Frequently Asked Questions

How many continuing education (CE) hours are needed for license renewal in 2023?

For license renewal, all persons licensed by the board as cosmetologists, nail technicians and estheticians must show satisfactory evidence of four (4) contact hours of board-approved continuing education specific to board laws and regulations, client safety, and/or infection control to include sanitation and disinfection during the licensing period. These hours may be completed through a board-approved in-person class or an online class.

How many CE hours are needed if my license has lapsed?

If you have a license that has been lapsed for less than three years, you may complete 6-hour reinstatement classes through live webinars, and they will count as in-person CE classes. The rule is still the same, one online (self-study) class and one in-person/live webinar class or you may obtain two in-person/live webinar classes to reinstate your license. You are not allowed to complete 4-hour CE classes until your license has been reinstated.

When does my license expire?

All licensees must complete 4-hours of continuing education by the expiration date on your professional license to avoid any late fees or penalties. If your license is active and current, the expiration date is currently March 10, 2023.
